Company
Our client is a healthcare provider focused on delivering medical services to patients. The project involved a portable ECG device designed to capture and transmit cardiac data to an Android application via Bluetooth.
The mobile application enables users to view ECG signals directly on their devices, providing a convenient way to monitor cardiac activity without relying on traditional stationary ECG equipment.

What We Did
DevsX worked on the Android application, integrating it with an existing portable ECG device.
The project involved reusing an existing C++ library responsible for processing data received from the device and displaying ECG waveforms. Using Xamarin, we connected the application to the device through Bluetooth and integrated the library into the mobile environment.
This approach allowed us to build on existing technology rather than recreate the device communication and data processing functionality from scratch.
Challenges
-
01
Integrating Existing ECG Technology
The project required working with an existing ECG device, its communication protocol, and a C++ library. The challenge was to reuse these components within a Xamarin-based Android application while maintaining compatibility with the device.

02
Displaying ECG Data on Mobile
The application needed to receive ECG data via Bluetooth and display multiple ECG signals in a clear, structured interface. The challenge was to connect the device’s data processing functionality with the mobile application and provide a practical visualization of cardiac activity.

ECG Signal Visualization
All 12 leads and a rhythm strip are displayed on a familiar ECG grid, each clearly labeled. Users can switch the display speed between 25 and 50 mm/s and pause the signal to take a closer look at a specific segment.
Conclusion
The project demonstrates how existing medical hardware can be integrated with modern mobile applications through Bluetooth connectivity and reusable native libraries.
By combining Xamarin-based Android development with an existing C++ library, DevsX helped connect a portable ECG device to a mobile interface for visualizing cardiac signals.
The solution highlights our experience in mobile development, hardware-software integration, and working with existing technologies in the healthcare domain.
